5/20/10 letter to Whitehouse.gov
The Coast Guard Commandant says we're on entirely new ground with the Gulf oil spill. The translation is that we don't really know what we're doing. James Carville can't believe BP is trustworthy. I can't believe the Obama administration or anyone else could be seriously considering offshore oil drilling on the East Coast of the U.S. We've heard that the Bush administration was evil and now I'm waiting for some pundit to straight out categorize the Obama's Presidency as an administrative failure. Don't misunderstand these critical comments to be all just about the BP spill. NO! This is really about the stupidity of supporting East Coast offshore drilling as if the risks are a known quantity. No! The risks are unmeasurable and the Obama administration knows that and ignores that. It's shameful to play chicken with our environment. Shame, shame, shame.

We Can
5/20/10 letter to Whitehouse.gov
Dear Mr. Obama,
As President your power to unilaterally affect change is minimal, but your influence on Americans is tremendous. I've campaigned on the benefits of social equality in America for a long time. As you know Black Americans have lagged and you can do more to help. By any measure Black Americans are not making enough progress and that impacts the entire country. As a country our success depends on all citizens participating. Your legacy can include an era of great awakening for the American Black community. The awakening involves the message of "yes you can", yes you can participate, yes you can respect yourselves and others, yes you can live responsibly, you can learn from the past but cannot progress unless you leave that past and act in the present. The message to Black Americans is that "NOW IS YOUR TIME" to become all that your forebearers had dreamed of. In fact, it is a familiar American mantra and of potentially great historic significance that it may just be the right time for Black Americans to carry that torch/carry that message by example to all Americans. Our success as a country depends on the fully functioning participation of all.

All So Dirty
5/17/10 letter to Whitehouse.gov, Contact Mr.Bob Jindal(LA), Contact Mr.Bob McDonnell(VA):
Dear President Obama, Governor Bob Jindal (LA), Governor Bob McDonnell(VA),
When it comes to public policy, or politics for that matter, I very,very rarely frame my thoughts with such absolute conviction, but I can't contain myself any longer. I'm asking which one of you wants to stand up first when asked, "...and do any of you know of a jerk that still believes offshore drilling is a good idea?". Unfortunately, each of you have egg on your face now, because this time the events have not simply disappeared into the American public's distant memories which would have saved you from disgrace. These are current events; real, up close and they are dirty. Dirty for the ecology, dirty for American energy policy, dirty for the Obama administration's policy flip-flopping, dirty for the short-sighted Virginia Governor's greed and dirty for the Louisiana Governor's selfish political ambitions. The politics we are witnessing and the missteps of government have been astounding. You should all be ashamed for your misguided ambitions. Now let's let this terrible event be a lesson. And by the way, you all should have known better (and by damned it you all did). Only if a greater measure of common sense were to prevail and if you'd placed your responsibilities for the care of our environment ahead of your short-term and selfish ambitions... Shame on you.

Congress Versus Collaboration
5/17/10 response "comments" to Senator Eric Cantor's "YouCut" campaign
[YouCut is designed to defeat the permissive culture of runaway spending in Congress. We need your help in identifying which program and spending cuts should be featured on this website each week. Use the form below to submit your ideas for YouCut - by working together, we will be able to change Washington's culture of spending into a culture of savings.]
Comments:
We should stop paying the salaries and benefits of partisan belly-achers, power-mongers, thieves, and evil-doers. You know who you are. Those in government who do not work the democratic process in good faith and on our behalf. Those who do not work to promote bipartisan solutions, be they republicans or democrats, should not expect a paycheck from the citizens of this nation. Bipartisan collaboration is a win for the American people. Any politician who thwarts that collaborative process primarily seeks power, not the solutions we need. Let's start a movement to get rid of the republican bums, the democratic bums, --all of the bums.
